Nic Hunter

I am running for reelection to the office of Mayor of Lake Charles, Louisiana

Goals

Lakefront Development

Mayor Hunter’s administration turned dirt on the lakefront, as promised. Projects, to date, include the brand new Port Wonder Children’s Museum and Science & Nature Center , renovation of the lakefront parking garage, renovation of the Cypress Alligator Pond, and the construction of Crying Eagle Lakefront.

Taxes & Budget

Mayor Hunter has kept a keen focus on fiscal leanness & accountability. Under Mayor Hunter’s leadership, raising taxes has not been the answer. Unlike countless other cities around the country, he has found ways to secure progress and bring Lake Charles forward without having to raise taxes.

Infrastructure

Through budget prioritization, Mayor Hunter has focused on critical infrastructure needs like drainage, roads, water, and sewerage. Mayor Hunter’s administration ahs invested hundred of millions of dollars into hard infrastructure projects with over one hundred million more to come, thanks to the recently passed, tax-neutral LC REBOUND initiative.

Drainage

Mayor Hunter has launched the most aggressive and proactive drainage improvement program in City history, increasing drainage spending by over 93%, again without raising taxes. Both home owners and business owners can see the results after a heavy rain.

Roads

In recent years, the City has launched dozens of road improvement projects. The recently passed LC REBOUND initiative carries with it another one hundred million dollars worth of road improvement projects that are set to break ground in 2025.

Commitment to Fire Protection & Law Enforcement

The Hunter administration has found ways to increase pay for all City employees without raising taxes or drastically cutting services.
